Thanks for this.
I've always wondered, is Pope Joan a real historical figure?
Would you also consider 'Rome'(2005-2007, TV)?
Also take note of 'The Passion of the Joan of Arc' (1928)
And if you get into the 20th century (I saw you include Pope John Paul II), do consider:
'Bonhoeffer' (2003)
'Bonhoeffer: Agent of Grace'(2000)
Of Gods and Men (2010)
Oh blogger took away all my links to the film titles!!!
Thank you, Yam, for making addition to this list. I do not believe Pope Joan to be a historical figure, but I am positive that with proper instructions the film can help the viewers to understand the history in that period in general. Tempted to integrate films in history teaching as I already am, I still need to figure out a procedure of doing it.
I just noticed that you have added The Passion of the Christ into the list. Better not, because by including Jesus into your list, you are getting into big trouble -- there are way more than hundreds of Jesus films around ...
That's true ... I wasn't sure about it either but then included it anyway. Seems that leaving it alone is a better idea.
